Learn about the connections between pesticides and health problems

Health risks associated with pesticide use are becoming ever more clear and well-known to the general public. The use of pesticides in farming and agriculture, around institutions like hospitals and schools, and in and around homes has been linked to multiple serious and debilitating health problems and diseases. Learn about the connections between pesticides and health problems in this article, and consider making the shift to our safe, all-natural, organic pest control services! While the statistics described below may be concerning, at Kinder Spray we make it possible for you to enjoy both a pest-free home and property, AND safety and health for you and your loved ones.

Pesticides and Health: Parkinson’s Disease

Studies have determined that people exposed to some pesticides are at greater risk of developing Parkinson’s Disease. A study in the journal Neurology explains what may be the cause: 11 pesticides have been shown to inhibit production of enzymes in a certain family of genes. These enzymes are responsible for the breakdown and elimination of toxins. This has been identified as the possible explanation for increased incidences of Parkinson’s Disease in people exposed to these enzyme-inhibiting pesticides.

Now we know that there are proven links between these synthetic pesticides and health; sadly, many people were impacted before action was taken to ban these pesticides, which were used widely for years. For your safety, we strongly recommend avoiding the use of synthetic pesticides around your home; they may not have been studied long enough for their effects to become known. Choose a kinder way: natural and organic cedar oil-based spray.

Pesticide and Health: Childhood Cancer

A 2015 study concluded that children exposed to pesticides in the home are 47% more likely to have leukemia and 43% more likely to have lymphoma. The association was found between indoor use of insecticides and increased rates of cancer, probably because there is less fresh air indoors to dilute the chemicals used. Insecticides are sprayed around the home, as opposed to herbicides which are used mainly around plants. According to a CNN report, “Chemical residues linger on surfaces where children play or spend time, and they may get them on their hands and put their hands into their mouths. In general, children younger than 12 appear to be most vulnerable to the possible cancer-causing effects of pesticides.”
